Ditto on the Heat Soak problem,, my 65 El Camino has full length headers and
a HD GM starter ,with after market heat shield,,
Last Saturday night ( read Cool) after leaving the Cruz and stopping for
Gas it struck for the 2nd time..
New Battery and cables were installed over the winter.....

I have a CVX gear reduction after market starter on a brown truck due to
arrive Tue.
I am hoping it's smaller and it's solenoid located in towards the block and
inside a none conductive heat shield.

I like the remote solenoid idea. because I just installing new cables I
opted for the starter route first...

any body have experience with the Gear reduction starters ??
