For the most part, I'd have to agree. The last one I was at, there were more sellers then buyers and most of the stuff belonged in the scrap yard - unless you like collecting mid-70s vintage small block, cast iron, intake manifolds. That being said, you'll always find that diamond in the rough, you just have to look hard enough.
There are just a couple things I've been looking for, namely a 12 bolt for the '66, but I'll be damn if I'm going to pay $1,000 for something I'm going to have to put another $500-$600 into to get it right. Better off buying a Currie or Moser. Of course, I've maybe only seen a handful of 12 bolts in the last four or five swap meets I've been to and all have been for '68 to 72's. I look at this the same as the down fall of the local speed shop. It's not just the internet/mail order companies that killed them, but I think a lot has to do with how the hobby has changed and their inability/desire to change with it. Let's face it, 20 years ago there were more of us interested in, and working on 60's and 70's muscle cars. Case and point is to drive by a high school parking lot and see what's there. Not much vintage iron, at least not by most of our standards. Back in the day there were more of us, companies where making parts for us and the parts could easily be found. My fear is that the more time that passes, the worse it will get. All that said, I was actually looking forward to going to the Coy Swap Meet at Bandimere today, but with the snow we got on Friday, it'll probably get called. It's still fun to get around car guys and to look for that hidden treasure. You see that guy pulling his kid's radio flyer with something cool in it and kick your self for not finding it first (I got my boy a flyer two Xmas's ago and my wife saw right through it - guess I took her to too many swap meets..).
