I did something very similiar with my '69, except that I mounted it up and inside the right front fender.  It's mostly hidden from view, and is a pretty clean solution.   I could provide pics, and I got a similar plastic tank at AutoZone for about $8.

Like Tom said, this didn't come on any Chevelle.  You can pick up a kit like this at any of the parts stores for less than the one at Hinshaw's.  I got mine at AutoZone and mounted it in a way that I can easily take it off when I take the car to a show.
