ROP stands for Regional Occupational Program - I signed up in Santee at Santana High School for the Summer and its free. Its Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights from 5:30pm to 9:30 pm. This semester I am at Mount Carmel High School Friday nights and all day Saturday but the program got cancelled there because the school is getting renovated. I think the Santee ROP class is full, but there is an Adult Education class that runs Tuesday and Thursday nights. Not sure of the cost. Santee is part of the Grossmont School district.
The instructor's name is Tony Santana (no, the school was not named after him) and he is the best. The Adult Education class starts Tuesday, June 15th and Tony has been telling everyone to show up early around 3:00 PM if they want to get in because there is a limit to the size. As a side note, they have lots of tools including welders (mig and tig) and most importantly, a paint booth. You might want to call and see what it costs. The ROP people should have the details on the Adult education program because the administrators are all in the same office. And to be honest there may be a similar program up in North County but I've never looked into it.
