Having an understanding wife/girlfriend makes all the difference. My girlfriend jokes that the Chevelle is "my other baby" or "the other woman". She really encouraged me to get started on the project and take it as far as I have. She's about as excited as I am to go on the maiden voyage. I'm not so sure my heart can handle letting her drive it though. ;-)

I'm with Matt. Body panels and body paint I will leave to guys who do it
everyday. Engine and Trans rebuild to the professionals, everything else I
do myself. I can't afford to pay some one to do something I can do, plus
it's fun and part of the hobby. The other big part of the equation is
being married to an understanding wife who supports the hobby. But she
said it again last night sitting in the drivers seat "I wish it were an
automatic", she'll drive around in the neighborhood, but not out on busy
roads.

I do a lot myself, but certain things I'm leaving for the professionals. Like my engine rebuild and my bodywork/paint job. I know how to do the bodywork and paint job, but it will look MUCH MUCH nicer with a pro doing the work. (I'm a hack with a spray gun!) All other mechanical stuff I'm doing. For me, that's the fun part!

By the way, my 69 is going into the paint booth next week!
