Rob,
I believe you are talking about the blower motor resistor. They are
available with and with out AC through many of the parts catalogs. I've
seen them in Year One, OGP, NPD and Classic Muscle. They come integrated
with the card board insulator as you were asking about. There mounted on
the heater box as they can get red hot depending on what speed the blower
switch is set to. Let us know how well the after market heater core fits.
I went to replace my original Harrison last year and the new core has a
slightly different tank profile - making the original hold down clips
useless. I still have yet to make custom hold down clips and its only cold
in October - as my Chevelle hibernates November - April.

Heater Vent Thermostat?

Please respond to The
Chevelle Mailing List
I was replacing the heater core on my 66 this weekend. The thermostat that
sits in the heater box is mounted on a piece of cardboard-like material.
When removing the heater box this cardboard was very brittle and
practically
disintegrated. Is there any place to buy a replacement thermostat? Has
anyone else run into this problem before? Its probably not difficult to
make
a new mounting piece, but given the age, maybe its better to replace the
thermostat. Thanks.
