I was just looking at my Chevrolet parts interchange manual, and it says that a certain pair of hood springs (p/n 3864680) fit "1968 Chevelle second design". Anybody ever heard of this before? If it's accurate, what was the first design and what changed between the first and second? I don't think it's the SS hood option, because the same springs claim to fit all 1969-72 Chevelles, except 1971-72 SS & Heavy Chevy. This of course brings up another question. Why would they fit 1970 SS but not 1971-72? The cover of the book says that it is for 1959-70, so maybe they just don't have accurate info for 71-72. they only list the hinges up to 1970, so I can't see if it's the same hinge or not.
