Dan, Just a question for ya, when you “finally”
get it up to highway speed, and then you get on it, does it go pretty
quick??? I’m guessing it
does. I have a 350 that was backed
by a 2speed powerglide…. I changed to a TH350, and MAN what a
difference. I have a first gear
that in the neighborhood of 2.5 where as the powerglide
is about 1.75. I can now “Throw
Smoke” when ever I feel like it, from a dead stop or rolling. I’d bet that with the tranny swap you’d get all the power you’d need
(not want J). I hope this
helps. And of course I could be
totally wrong, and if that’s the case. The list will surely let you know. Jon Bongiorno 1966 Chevelle -----Original Message----- Hi gang, hers the deal.. I have a 1971 El Camino 350CID motor
in my 64... it is very, very slow. I have the stock powerglide, and
3.something to 1 rear gears.. 4 bbl edelbrock 600 carb, power plus
aluminum dual plane intake, stock ram horn exhaust manifolds with 2.5"
duals with glasspacks. HEI dist with good 8.8mm wires. What do I need to do to get some
power out of this thing. It is such a dog as is... I have super skinny
13" tires and cant even do a burnout most of the time.. I'm not looking for 8 million
horsepower, just something a little more respectable than the 110 HP is feels
like I have now.. do I need to build up the motor
some, or would a trans swap to a 200R4 be the way to go? Thank you for any help you can
give.. Dan McIntosh |
