[Chevelle-list] Aluminum Rear Drum?

Bought a 'Chevy Rumble' magazine today.  Was reading through some of the tips, and it says that GM used Aluminum rear drums from the 70's to the 1990's.  They are 9.5" x 2".  Has anyone tried to put these on a 12 bolt rear?  Will they fit the '65 backing plates?  Will it bolt in if I get the backing plates?   I hadn't heard of this before, but then again, I have only owned my '65 7 months.  What the heck do I know!   Charles www.65ss.com
