An old timer, much wiser than I, once told me that you need 3 things to
start an engine.

#1 Good spark
#2 Gas -has to be getting inside the combustion chamber
#3 Timing

Now I know a thing or two could be added to that, exceptions can be
found etc. I think this assumes that your engine is still mechanically
sound as well.

I once had a wild night out as a teen putting my well worn 389 65 GTO
with a muncie 4 speed through it's paces. Ran great that night.

The next morning it would not start. Turned out that somehow the timing
chain had jumped a tooth. Now I am still not sure why it ran great until
I shut it off that night, and wouldn't start the next morning. Weird!
Must have jumped the tooth trying to start the next morning?

If you are sure you see spark jumping the spark plug gap (not just spark
getting to the cap from the coil), and you are sure that timing hasn't
slipped drastically or something hasn't changed, such as a new set of
plug wires and getting mixed up...

....that would just about leave gas. Verify it's squirting into the
carb. If you aren't sure, pour a little gas into the carb and see if the
engine tries to start.

This is about the limits of my expertise. Wiser guys than I can chime in
and go from here if you verified the basics above.
