So the sockets fit right in to the back of
the 69 dash? How were they grounded? Have any pics? J I just spent some time trying different
methods. I took two metal brackets from hell and bent out the spades, then
placed them in the sockets. I took another two metal brackets from hell and
spread some glue (albeit not the highest adhesive but pretty damn good) on the
spades and then placed them in the sockets. I let them sit for 10 minutes. I
came back, placed bulbs in all four sockets. I came back in 5 minutes and
found that every single one had at least some movement (1/4 of the way out).
One of the glued ones had came all the way out and one of the bent ones came the
way out (one spade completely out). Anyone know of any aftermarket place that
makes replacement sockets? I do not want to be afraid every time I take off my
dash bezel that I am going to lose a bulb and have to dismantle everything.
Even if the spades are glued, bent, nailed, stapled, welded, melded, etc…
I would still have the thought in the back of my head. Thanks, JB From:

Behalf Of crobertson1 JD I have the same problem
with my 69. Some I used super glue on the spades. The ones that were real
bad, I found a wiring harness from a 75 corvette and spliced the sockets with a
length of wire on my harness. Craig -----Original Message----- Does anyone out that have a
sure-fire way to keep the bulbs and metal frame things from slipping out of the
black sockets? I just spent a few hours putting my dash in, taking it out
(getting the bulbs came out), putting it back in, taking it back out (getting
the bulbs that came out) , you get the picture. I was thinking of using
some contact cement on the little spade connectors that go down into the
holder. I think the bulbs fall out when that thing gets loose… Any
ideas? And if anyone know who the engineer
was who designed those things, send him my way. Thanks, JB |
