One added note.. The Enjoyment factor one gets from working on cars.. This is a BIG one for me. I spend countless hours in the Shop/garage Working on or as my Wife says.. Playing with Cars...

========================================= The smiles per mile factor is what the "car Hobby" is all about I agree
But Wayne has also hit the proverbial nail on the head with his comments on hours spent in the garage...Pure relaxation
Years ago after a hard day at work I got into the bad habit of stopping by the watering hole for a drink or two or three after work to unwind. The wife kind of put her foot down and I picked up an old Corvette and spent the next three years redoing (not restoring) it in the garage after work...an hour here an hour there etc... Well when it was finished I was not about to sell it so I bought another car and repeated the process... and still am repeating the process
I have been retired since 1998 and "My" garage has become 2 garages...and both have been remodeled (enlarged) and now I work on and "play" with my 5 Corvettes and the Chevelle whenever the mood strikes me.
All my cars are now complete and on the street..(none are 100 percent as usual) and I am looking for another project car (hopefully not my last) to fill the last available bay in the one garage.
But looking back. Those hours I have spent in the garage sure beat sitting at a bar, or going bowling etc...and the trips I have taken with those cars allowed my wife and me to make tons of new friends from almost every
walk of life....
I am now thinking of relocating to a State with LOW taxes, warm weather, cheap utilities etc and buying a small "A" frame home WITH AN ATTACHED 7 CAR GARAGE...
Yep Smiles per mile and 1000's of hours of relaxation... worked for me...
