Any other rules we should know about?
- Generally, your List Administrator is not big on rules. It is expected that list participants exercise due politeness when discussing controversial subjects with each other. Occasionally, tempers will flair and hurtful comments will be tossed about, but it is anticipated that most members will be grown up enough that they can tolerate contrary opinions and maybe the odd joke or two.
- There are some other guidelines for ensuring a happy list:
- It is appreciated by all if you could ensure your subject headers reflect accurately the contents of your posts, especially if you are replying to a current thread.
- When you reply to another message, please try to refrain from quoting the entire message in your own post. Instead, quote just the relevant bits of the original message. Doing this reduces bandwidth needed to transmit e-mail (especially nice for folks who dial into their e-mail via modem) and makes your messages much easier to read, particularly in digest format.
- Since some list members might have trouble with them, the sending of binary attachments (such as pictures of your Chevelle) to the Chevelle List is not allowed and will only get the administrator in a very cranky mood as he sits waiting an hour for the picture to load off the server. In short:
- This also keeps nasty viruses from reaching your computer via a mailing list.
- In all cases, remember to reply to folks as if they were in the same room with you. Because you can't see other members of the Chevelle List is no reason to behave any less politely than you would with people you were meeting face to face.
Your List Administrator is none too interested in maintaining strict adherence to notions of topical relevance, and is not crazy about dozens of superfluous messages complaining that a particular post is off-topic. Try to stay on the subject of Chevelles, but if the conversation digresses, hey, you're among friends. Have some fun.
If, on the other hand, you are one of those human beings who has a hard time dealing with other human beings when they start acting like human beings, you might not appreciate the easy-going manner in which this list is administered.
Remember, when you subscribed you agreed to abide by these rules. If we don't, then the list will go to hell in a hand basket, and I don't think we want that to happen. If you want off of the list, the unsubscribe instructions (the real ones, not Craft-o-Matic) are also on that page.
Peace & love & Chevelles :-))
