This stuff is everywhere... not just over welded seams though. I picked up
some 3M seam sealer for the new joints already. Thanks though.

Going through the same thing on my 68 SS El Camino, it is factory seam
sealer. If you notice it is covering all the welded seams. I removed mine
and used today's equivalent, that I got from the auto supply store.For the
life of me I can't remember the name of the stuff, but it black and you put
it on with a caulking gun. If you are interested I can get the name of the
product for you.

I have ripped apart the interior of my 68 and just put installed new floor
pans. Now I am starting to fabricate an alum rear firewall. During this I
have notcied a coating over most of my interior and was curious if this
was done at the factory or by someone else? IT almost seems like that
cheap undercoating you get at auto stores. Very thin and comes off easily
with a puddy knife. But just curious if anyone knew.
