Here are some pictures of the unit installed in a 70 Chevelle with a big
block. The inside unit will look identical, for the 66 there are two
round dash bezels, a center dash bezel (above the radio) and an
underdash bezel supplied with the necessary templates. The firewall
block off plate will look a little different, on the unit for the 66
all four hoses come out together in the center. The old fan and
underhood duct are completely removed and a block off plate is supplied
for the old fan opening. For the defrost duct a template is supplied to
cut the lower portion of the plastic duct off and an adapter is sealed
and screwed to it that connects to the "suitcase". The existing heater
controls are retained and used to control the AC, Heat and Defrost
Modes. A new fan switch is supplied and all other controls are cable
operated. The supplied cables are stainless steel and are the correct
length and have the OEM type ends (pre bent or loops). The condenser is
the right size with all the mounting brackets and looks OEM. Compressor
mounting bracket is included. System comes with a 3 year warranty.
The "Perfect Fit" kit is the most complete unit I seen. Everything
needed is included except the Freon, crank pulley and drive belt. The
installation manual is 23 pages and includes step be step instructions
with 53 pictures. The crank pulley can be supplied, as well as polished
compressor, chrome drier and custom length hoses.
The attached brochure outlines some of the differences between Classic
and Vintage Air.
The price for the "Perfect Fit" system is $1095 and since you're a TC
member you'll get free shipping ($50). I am going to try and see if I
can get some better pricing with a quantity purchase.
