Hey Jimmy,  from the sounds from you, i wouldn't worry about the repairs  do them  these cars are a good investment, over time they only go up in value,  seems like realestate allmost lol, plus it's a good hobby (it can get expensive though) but all depends on how you go about restoring it, meaning,  you can go to yard sales swapmeets things of that nature or you can get catalogs and get brand new. Now as for your vin# it reads as follows 1= chevrolet   D= Malibu, custom Elcamino, Concours=wagon. (obviousley it's a malibu) 37= 2 door sportcoupe F= 307 2barrel carb V8 130 horsepower (so much for the 350) 2= 1972 B= Baltimore MD (where it was built) the rest of the numbers are production numbers in sequence.  hope this helped you in your decision.  Write back,  Ken

Hey Ken,thanks for getting back to me .  it's has a chevelle tag on the trunk and Malibu tags on the inside door panels.the VIN is 1D37F2B504042. I tried checking the VIN # on line but it only showed more modern 17 character VIN #'s.I was told it has a 350 cid, auto on the column, drum brakes, none posi rear. I bought the car from a parking garage that had a lein on the car that the original owner abandoned there . so I don't know much about the cars history. What I do know is that the car needs both 1/4's( rotted out above the tail lights both sides) a driver side door and some work on the roof, it looks like somebody was standing/jumping on it because it's dented and slightly creased above the back window. The rest of the car looks pretty solid ?.I'm pretty sure it's repairable . any thoughts ? Hopefully good ones, because I've been going through the" Special Interest Vehicles" parts section making a tentative wish list.i.e..cowl hood, 454,Muncie 4spd,disc brake conversion,373 posi. am I a dreamer or does this sound realistic. Thanks again, Jimmy

Hi jimmy, Ken here, well lets start with your ideas first  you can clone it to an SS  clone it to a HeavyChevy  or a Malibu  or just keep it a chevelle,  i'm not sure by your email if what you have is a HeavyChevy  let me know about it.  Ken

Hey All,
I recently looked at a 72 Chevelle that has a cowl induction hood and an SS emblem on the front grille.Thinking this was a "clone" which many are,I did some research on the vin to find the first 4 digits of the vin 1C37 indicates this car is a Heavy Chevy.Anyone have any info on the Heavy Chevy? Production numbers,Stats,Value.Any info on this car would be greatly appreciated !
Thanks
