I never ceases to amaze me. How product engineers  quest to develop a 
platform.There haste  to meet certain  guidelines.Have that be FED, 
enforced, Wight HP ration. and Cost. They Over look such  basic  simplistic 
and obvious protocols.
I had  the opportunity fix a New  Toyota   Camry that took a hard- High 
front hit... After removing all the bent top stuff, I was so surprised in 
the thought that went into the disassembly & assembly  access . the was  the 
BIG sedan. big  6 cyl engine and All the service items, all the plugs ,the 
belts the hose fitting, the AC line connections we a Piece of CAKE.. they 
even went as far as  welding on the tow hook on the front cross member.  in 
front of and lower then the lower AC condenser Line.. A Safety  thought NO 
American car manufacture thinks of ? Mater of fact they  put them in areas 
that if you lift @ too far a angle you  bend and deform the bumper cover

Think I'll stick with my old 93 Ford 4X4 or do like another friend is doing. 
He got Him self a  72-- 3/4 ton and is putting a new 454  beefed th400 with 
an after market overdrive unit, No Smog, NO electronics, No million vacuum 
lines. EGR, TPS ,O2  ,OBD II MAP ect ect .. Keep it Simple Stupid..and it's 
paid FOR and not the  mega bucks a new one costs...

     I think you hit the only Highlight...GM Trucks..decent power and
functional.
The other positive is the LS* Sbc.

Do you live where it snows?
If you have an '03 Silverado you know where I'm headed.
You can't fold the wiper arms up!
You can't leave them up for cleaning or for that ice storm they forecast 
on the news,
And the grill in front of the windshield is just perfect for accumalating 
ice and snow to ensure the whole mess is frozen in place.
WTF is wrong with those engineers?!
They had that figured out years ago.
