I have always used the pinstripe removal tool. Which looks like a large 
round eraser on a mandrel. You put it in a drill and the decals come right 
off without maring the paint. Then get some goo-gone or something similar to 
remove any left over adheasive residue.

Works like a charm.

Hair dryer on low temp should soften the glue.  Then use the solvent
to remove residue.
