Bingo, thanks. I was close had the pin pushed in,
just needed to turn and pull. Cool my night is complete. Many thanks.

Chevelle key bezel.
Some of the key tumblers you insert the
key , turn backwards (I think) and then put a push pin (cutting torch
cleaners work good) down the hole in the face beside the key and then it
turns a little further and pulls out
Digging through cob webs
Good luck

Subject: [Chevelle-list] 1968 Chevelle
key bezel.
Hello
Does anyone know how to dismantle a 1968
Chevelle ignition switch. I didn't disassemble the dash, but have to put it
back together. If you know what I'm talking about then you know that it is
surrounded by a chrome plastic bezel that threads onto the switch housing. I
won't go over the stainless part where you insert the key, so I suppose
you have to remove the switch and then slide it back in once the
housing is attached to the bezel, sort of like how the glove box assembly
works. Not sure if I'm off base on this one, but can anyone help.
