The 700R4 I had built by Phoenix Transmissions out of Weatherford, TX will work up to 450hp and they have �em up to 575hp.  Other mfgs such as Bowtie advertise up to 600hp.  As I said, unless the engine is going to be extremely built, the 700R4 and even a well built 2004R will hold up nicely.  The 700R4 has a much lower first gear (3.06) compared to a TH400 (2.48) so it�ll launch a bit easier in a heavy car.  In addition, the O.D. is great for the highway over the 1:1 of the TH400.
