It sounds like there are some issues with Vintage Air units out there on the List. I was just getting ready to order a unit for my Tempest. Is VA not what it's cracked up to be? Who makes a better unit? Herb is using a VA unit in his Elky and from what I'm aware of he has been pleased except for the cheezy plastic firewall fill panel. Give me some feedback,please. The heat don't work worth a damn. I'm in Dallas TX. So you know I need the AC. But this was 7 yrs ago I installed them. If your VA blower don't put out a lot of air check the (cheesy) plastic cage fan, both of mind destroyed themselves. They have a "D" shaped hole that fits the "D" shaped motor shaft, what happens is the thin plastic fan cracks & slips on the motor shaft. When I ordered new ones I machined an aluminum spacer that reinforced the fan top & bottom. No trouble since.
