I put a VA unit in my 67 hardtop and it wasn’t as good as I’d hoped.  Heater worked fine but then it was the first time in 15 years I’d driven it with a heater.  Cooling was marginal and maybe Herb’s is fine due to the small cabin space of the Elky…just a theory.  I found I still had to crack a window in order to get the suction from the window to pull cold air across my upper body.  May have been the location of the vents (see picture in link) but, IMO, its ineffectiveness and the cheesy firewall plate makes me think I’ll try Air Vintique or Old Air next time.

I’m sure everyone has good and bad experiences with just about any mfg at one time or another.  Guess you have to toss these around and see what shakes out.

It sounds like there are some issues with Vintage Air units out there on the List. I was just getting ready to order a unit for my Tempest. Is VA not what it's cracked up to be? Who makes a better unit? Herb is using a VA unit in his Elky and from what I'm aware of he has been pleased except for the cheezy plastic firewall fill panel. Give me some feedback, please.
