Ryan,
You will have to change the frame mounts of your 307 Malibu. I just switched from a 307 to a 454 and the frame mounts on the 307 were too tall for the 454 motor mounts. The 307 frame mounts are one of a kind. Stupid but true. They will work for the 350 and other small block motors but will make the engine sit higher. But again they will NOT work on the big block motor mounts. Be prepared to work at getting the frame mounts off too. It's kind of a squeeze to get your wrench in to the back side to get the nuts off but can be done with a little patience. Putting the new frame mounts on is a trick too.

Let me know how you do and good luck.

Subject: [Chevelle-list] Motor Mounts

I have been hearing different opinions on motor mounts.  Do you or dont you need to change motor mounts or their positions when swithing from small block to big block?  I have a 68 chevelle that originally had a 307.  I am considering dropping a 396 into it.  I am not sure now if the motor mounts and positions will work?  Any help is greatly appreciated.
