Powder coating is good to a point. Depends what you want the frame to
do, sit and look good or be driven. If you are going for the looks then
by all means powder coat, but rust can appear at any time. That is due
to how it was prepared, humidity, handled by bare hands etc. Many
factors come into play on not having the rust. Also powder coating can
chip without reason, I have hit it with a hammer and no problem, then
drop a bolt on it and lo a chip. I like to POR15 the frames, wheel wells
and bottom of the pans on driven cars, undercoat with 3M, then powder
coat the small items up to wheel size. Last wheels I powder coated are
showing some signs of rust in spots, my fault as I didn't get good
coverage with the powder. Really up to you just what you want to do to
your car. Powder coat if you want or POR15 it. POR15 is easier to repair.
