Moth balls is the best bet...
I was told to crush into powder and pour the inside perimeter, along the
walls
And the mice wont even come in

This is a tough problem. Keep the area were you store the car as clean
as
possible, remove food sources.
I put poison out at various locations were kids and pets can't get to
it. I
also put a small tray with moth balls behind each tire on the ground and
one in the trunk. Cover the ends of your exhaust pipes with aluminum
foil.
As a last resort I have several ultrasonic pest repellers plugged in
around
the garage.
I live out in the country and my shop/storage area is spotless, I still
get
mice occasionally.  Some say get a cat, but they like to climb all over
everything and urinate.
I may spend the bucks to get one of those storage covers that zip up
like a
bag, but I like the cars to be able to "breathe" a little...........
