I used the GM stuff.  It seemed to work really well but I had no idea that it eats paint.  I got a little on the inner side of the trunk rim and went to wipe it off after about a minute (I was still putting the seal in) and all the paint was gone.. enamel, primer, sealer.. everything…  I’ll have to whip up a batch of paint and get my little brush out.  That’s some nasty stuff.

i used one drop of black gorilla snot (3M super weatherstrip adhesive) on the cut to join the ends together at the trunk latch area , i didn't use any in the channels at all, I've had no leaks since and thats almost two years ago. i hate to take the beast out in the rain, but it was a daily driver for two years, it might as well had swim the English channel :)

When I got my car it didnt have a trunk seal.  I purchased one and it is a little confusing on exactly what goes in the run against the adhesive  Anyone else out there with a 69 (dont know if it is year specific) that might have a pic of which side goes down into the run?

If you look at the seal in one way, it kind of looks like jay leno.

Thanks,

JB
