The springs are held in place with a bolt/plate arrangement on a 66. If I remember correctly on a 67 rear, there is a cup that the spring sits around and the weight of the car holds it in place. With that said, the bottom of the 66 springs will be differenct then the 67 springs.

Hi all, I am finally getting ready to pop in my 12bolt, which brings me to this question. What is the "gotcha" on putting in a '66 rear end into a '67? I think it has to do with the year of the spring (like using a '66) but I can't remember. I do remember that 67 was a weird transistion year for the rears .... I am planning on using Hotchkis to match my front (1" drop). Thanks, -Graham 67 Chevelle SS http://projectchevelle.com/
