Early attempt at safety. You can not lock your keys in the car that way. You have to puposely hold in the door button.

If you push down the lock button on my 70 and shut the door the door unlocks also.  You have to push down the lock button and depress the door handle button as you shut the door to have it lock.  Or you can shut the door and lock it with the key.  Is this what you are talking about?

John,

Believe it or not, my 68 does the exact same thing.  When I first got the car, it took me awhile to notice that when I locked it, that the doors unlocked when I shut the door.  Wish I had a easy fix but I dont.  Just thought it was odd that someone else has possesed doors!!
