After rethinking the problem it might be the spring rather than the regulator. The window shakes itself down under vibration. The networked junkyards can find a regulator for you. I checked with one here in Arizona called Hidden Valley. They had one used (of course) for $100.Since I'm not sure if that's the problem I'll blow them off until I know for sure.
