A side note to your side note: Futura tires are made by Lee, a division of Goodyear. I ran a set of 70 series performance tires ( I forget what model ) on my '91 Caprice and got excellent service out of them. If memory serves, I put about 90 K on them with mostly highway driving. I'm running Futura Dakota LT truck tires on the '67 GMC with good service as well.

Performance wise, BF Goodrich tires are good on dry pavement, put them in water, they suck.  I was never able to get any traction with them when I had them on my 86 Cutlass.  I've been running the Firestone Firehawk series on my 70 SS and am happy with them, they hook pretty well behind a healthy 454.  Also on a side note, I have the Pep Boys special, Futura GLS Super Sport on my 86 Cutlass now as well as my 69 and they seem to do pretty well.
