To really
bench test a starter you need to hook it up to a contraption that has a
flywheel and lets you put a load on it. Just seeing if the gear shoots out and
spins doesn’t prove whether or not it will work under a load. John Nasta -----Original
Message----- I tried
bench testing the starter out of my 69 and got nothing, wanted to see if you
all think I did it right. There
are three terminals, hooked the positive side of the battery up to the big one
in the middle. Hooked the negative side to the frame of the
starter. Then with my tester, to watch voltage, I put one end on the big
terminal and one end on one of the smaller terminals. Zip. Did it
again with the other terminal, zip. I know it was getting juice because I
got voltage readings on that first smaller terminal. Sound like the
starter is fried? Thanks, JB |
