I went a different route for my headers with the recommendation from my
cousin who had used them on 383 647hp with great results.

Sanderson Headers. I had clearance problems with the header that were on
the car when I bought it. They were too close to the steering column and
the frame causing rubbing and contact during driving not to mention a
nightmare to remove and install them. With the Sanderson I definitely
noticed a performance difference the first time I drove the car, and I now
have easy access to the plugs and all kinds of room between the steering
column and the frame. One thing they provide is very easy removal and
installation. I bought them coated and they look great. They are very
expensive though maybe two to three time that of Hooker.

About two years, so that probably not long enough to tell anytihng (not like
I run around in a weather much with it).. But I bought them from a guy that
dig the ceramic coating, so Hooker did not coat them. They look like they
will hold up fine, but time will tell.

Oh, one thing on fit for my car - I also had to dimple one tube for steering
clearance.

Ron,

How long have you had the ceramic Hookers? Any rust yet?? It surprised me
when the Hooker Rep told they would rust! I'm sure under very adverse
conditions...but he told me up front!!

I've got coated Hookers on my 454 in the '66 and am fairly happy with them.
I do think they hang a little low, but I have never dragged them, so I'm
probably ok. Putting some Hotchkis springs up front today and I'm going to
take some careful measurements....

I'm getting ready to buy new headers for my 72 Chevelle SS. I'm running a
454 with 8-71 blower. What do you recommend...Hedman....Hooker...Dynamax????
I will get ceramic coated.
