OK, 50 here.  Bought my first 71 SS 350 convertible in 1973 for 2200.  
Sold it in 1987 for 2200 after putting 200K miles on it and it was a 
complete cosmetic mess.  My wife was pregnant and we decided we needed 
more "practical" cars. The next day, it was "what did I just do?" time. 
 So, four years ago, we decided it was ok to get it back, only problem 
was, none around.  It took 2 years to finally find one.  It was 
advertised on line in Arizona.  I flew there that day and drove it 
back. The next day it wouldn't start, and so started my daily battle 
with my new daily driver, which now has finally settled down and is 
(knock on wood) reliable.
