Well...After getting the compressor aligned, and the alternator...we now find the alignment on the power steering is off by a hair. Can't have your cake and eat it to. We sent off for a shim for the bottom BDS pulley to allow the alt and comp. to mesh or align, but didn't think about the power steering. There has got to be some give and take in the alignment.
As said earlier...someone has faced the problem with a 454 and a BDS 8-71 blower. This is a GM Type 2 polished aluminum pump that uses a remote reservoir and hence takes very little room at the pump. I just installed one on my '68/454 and it works and looks great. I used a Zoops polished aluminum bracket and reservoir and the pump mounts low on the driver side. If you are running a stock pump this should work just fine.
