Peter, Look up Dennis Perry in landscaping at SAS. He is a close personal
friend of mine. He also has one of the nicest 63 Nova SS convertibles you
will ever see. I live east of you in Morehead City.

I live in Apex, North Carolina for 9 years now .Apex is just west of Raleigh
and part of the triangle area. Born and raised in New Jersey but just got
tied of the "rat race " up there , so we decided to move to NC , "God's
country" as a friend of mine refers to NC as. I'm a plumber working in the
maintance department at SAS Institute in Cary NC . I also have a degree in
Mechanical Engineering.

Congrats on finding your dream. I'm sure that there are venders who
specialize in date coded blocks. You probably need to do a web
search to find some. Tromping around swap meets you may also
stumble acrossed the correct block. Also are you a member of ACES?
Every issue there are classified ads in the back and I frequently see
listings for dated blocks. If you have time, I'd try the swap meet
route first, if for nothing more than to save some cash. Seems like
you would have the patience (36 years worth) to look around.

And welcome to the list. You missed our recent threads on
occupation & location, so where are you & what do you do? We are a
varied group.

find out what would be involved to locate the correct date code 396 engine .
I plan on keeping the car for a very long time due to waiting 36 years to
get one .My neighbor / "big brother " bought one back in May of ' 69 and I
fell in love with it then . I would say it was worth the wait to finally get
my own . I'm also a lucky guy because my wife also shares the same passion
for that car.
