A "little" off topic??!!! It's the F-word!!! 8^] Seriously, has the harness been spliced anywhere? Any possibility some wires could be crossed in the harness from a Bubba job (not yours, possibly someone elses)?
Or, maybe check where the harness connects to the actual switch- Maybe some wires could be exposed and making contact somehow, thus causing the early turnover? Just my 2 cents worth..
