Hi Chuck, I have a 327 in my '66 from a '67 Chevelle, and it has the camel hump heads on it (original heads). The engine was originally 275HP and 10.5:1 compression stock.
I had a local shop rebuild the heads and install hardened valve seats, and also used domed pistons when I reassembled the engine, putting the compression to 11:1. I will forewarn you though, with that setup, I have to run 98 octane. Anything less will ping. Hope this info helps!
