Hey Sarge!

How the heck are ya? Hope that 68 is treating you right. I am so jealous
that you can drive yours and mine still isn't on the road after all this
time. Still, I am moving forward and hope to have it on the road before
winter.

I can start the 396 (402 bored to 410 really), at will, but that body work
is taking some time. I thought I had bought a good replacement door, but
upon closer inspection, that e-bay buy wasn't as good as what I had. So
when I'm not doing "honey-do's", taking care of the house, eevry day cars,
paying attention to the wife, etc. I find an hour or two now and then to
work on this thing.

Right now I am finishing up repairing the door bottom coners where that
good ole mid-west road salt did it's duty. I had to cut a bunch of new
steel, and weld and shape it into place. It's not looking half bad if I say
so myself :)

I have new door skins, and they will be going on soon. Since this is a 69
Malibu, and even thought I could make it into an SS Clone, I like the idea
of being different. Since it's a Malibu, I don't feel as restricted to keep
it all original and plan on doing some body modifications. I am almost
ready to start testing those to see how they look and work. First up is
some chrome door handles that hug the door better. Something like what
Corvette used, but those are shaped wrong to put on the door where I need
it to go. Some Challenger handles might be nice, but I can't find any at a
reasonable price.

Budget is tight now, so looks like I'll be doing at least most of the body
and paint myself. It may not look the best when done, but we'll see. I have
access to a paint booth on the base and can pay an expert there to paint it
for reasonable prices if needed. I can also get free advice there if
needed. And of course the resources online are always a big help.

Well back to the doors, I need to make sure they don't get blown off ;) I
can't wait to get started on the wiring and electrical :)

                                                                      Steve
