Dan, the problem I have is intense heat from the engine and headers coming in to my 72. I have a bored out 454 with a heavy cam and an 8-71 BDS blower. That may explain some of my problems. In the winter, the extra heat is fine! But our summers are horrendous on the Gulf Coast! I did go with Hooker Super Comp Headers recently. I also had Jet Hot coat them and went with a 3” SS Magnaflow exhaust. That may eliminate some heat, but not all!

That stuff is pretty thick, i think more than 1 layer would be overkill for real.

Never tried it, never felt the need. lol

Oh, Dan, Did you just use one layer? I have heard of people putting down 2-3 layers on the floorboard. Have you tried more than one layer?

Hi Dan

I used FatMat from ebay, it was about 100 dollars for 100 square feet. It really cut down on road noise.

It was pretty user friendly, just make sure to wipe the surfaces down with acetone or something similar before applying it. Also, the roller they supplied was pure garbage, I'd suggest finding a good wood roller somewhere.

I really cut down on road noise.

Here's a pic of the FatMat installed in my old 64 Impala.

I'm wanting to insulate the interior floor. I know Dynamat is good, but it
is pricey. Is there anything as good or better??

It looks like I need to buy a new carpet for my 72...any suggestions on type
of carpet and where to buy??
