Yes to the blade width. 3/4" would be great for your app. 1/2" would be good. The thickness would vary with blade style. (teeth/inch, alloy of blade, etc.)

thanks for giving me some good advice..the jet I"m looking at does 6 " , but doesn't have the hyd down, or the oiler pump..I'd like to have the next model up that has more of the bells and trinkets.. as well as the bigger blade..

and by blade width, I asssume you don't mean thickness but distance from teeth to the top flat edge, yes ?

Jim, I've owned and used several larger saws in my shop, and for the money Jet Equipment is a very good brand. Not sure how small they go, the smallest I had was a 7"x12", now I have a 10"x18". They both were about 2/3 the price of some of the more familiar brands. The main thing to consider is the blade width. The wider the blade, the better quality cut and longer blade life.

Guys
do any of you have a horizontal band saw now, that you would recommend as good enough for some one else to buy it ?

I want to build a few body rotissories and the thought of sawing all that tubing with my chop saw doesn't appeal to me...the cheapies go from 140 bux and up on ebay to 200 bux in the local stores..all the way to 4 digits for a heavy duty commercial unit..

I'd appreciate any insight.

TIA,

Jim Dos
