Richard believe it or not, many (maybe all???) 1972s did NOT have a heater shutoff valve. My 350 2bbl with A/C did not. Hot water circulated thru the heater core continuously and a vacumn operated door in the heater box sealed the hot air from the inside of the vehicle.
I have looked thru my 1972 factory assembly manual & Factory service manual and neither references a control valve.
