Thanks for the paint details Dale. I'll just pass it along to my paint guy. So far, your pics have given me the best idea what it may look like. Since my favorite color is a darker blue (royal?) and my second choice on a car would be black, I guess a midnight blue would be a good choice...

Thanks Again,

A couple of photos I just uploaded:

As noted before it’s very dark and hard to accurately photograph.  First shot is really of interior but there’s enough of the rear quarter to get an idea. Second shot is of the trim tag but if you’ll look at the overspray just above the tag it may help.

FWIW, the OEM paint numbers are:

Lucite ~ 4631-L

RM ~ A-1721

Ditzler ~ DDL-13002

These are OEM lacquer numbers but a good paint shop should be able to mix them up in a new base coat/clear coat combination.

Subject: [Chevelle-list] Paint Color EE [danube blue] for 66 SS396

Hi Everybody,

My 66 SS396 was originally danube blue, code EE. I bought a paint chip on eBay, and thing it's a dark blue - like a midnight blue. Problem is, it's really tough to tell what the color looks like in a small chip when it's so dark. I have seen one or two pics on the web of cars supposed to be danube blue, but for one reason or another (like the sun being in the background) It's hard to tell.

Anybody have any suggestions, or better yet, some pics of cars painted that color?

Thanks,

Larry
