How was the windshield and rear window originally installed back in 66?

Mike, I do all my own windshield and rear glass installs. I prefer butyl rubber to urethane for a couple of reasons. It takes a glass professional with lots of experience to build a consistant height of urethane caulk. Butyl rubber is much more forgiving in that it is bought in different thicknesses. This is important for proper trim moulding fit. Also Butyl is easier to get a nice clean appearance. Urethane is less likely to leak though. I must admit that I often have to go back and use a little urethane to stop leaks. In my State, NC, the glass installers are not allowed to use Butyl rubber. I believe it is a safety issue.

Yeah, I just had a new windshield put in Frontier.
Great price. The man said they don't use Butyl as the
windshield serves as a more important structural
component. Once, I get all the chrome pieces cleaned
up and polished, I'll have to "trailer queen" the unit
to get a new one installed. That was pretty funny,
huh? LoL

Larry, I buy new PPG windshields from a local
supplier for under $150. You can do the same.

Brad, I haven't heard from anybody yet. I will let
you know when I do. I also need the driver's side
window but I think the passenger side is OK on mine.
I also need the windshield. We can work something
out

I'd be interested in the driver and passenger
door windows if they are still in their frames.
Mine have come out, and some of the welds are gone,
so the windows don't behave too well. If Larry does
not need these parts, we could split the order,
otherwise Larry replied first and he gets dibs over
me.

I may be interested if there's no scratches on
the glass that can't be buffed out. Can you put me
in contact with the guy? I will be in San Diego next
weekend, so I can drive up to Riverside if
everything works out. Please lass my contact info to
him.

        Hey Everyone,

A buddy of mine replaced all the glass in
his 66 Chevelle. He has all the old stuff, no cracks
or anything...looking to get about 50 bucks for
everything. So this will fit 67 also. Located in
Southern California, Riverside area. I dont think he
will ship, plus it would cost a fortune. Let me know
soon if youre interested.
