Ron,
I just realized what you wrote - if you are running
a 1" spacer, your Torker II and the spacer is about 4.8" tall where the carb
mounts. The Performer RPM and Airgap runs about 5.25". Now the question is, do
you have .5 inch or better clearance from your air cleaner to the underside of
the hood?
Feel like helping me out? I'd like you to perform
an experiment for me... if you could find some clay, plummer's putty or anything
like that, could you make a 1" diameter ball, set it on the top of the air
cleaner, then shut the hood? Open the hood and see how far down the putty got
squashed... that will tell us how much room you're working with.
Thanks for your help.

Subject: RE: [Chevelle-list] Edelbrock
Performer RPM and Air GapIntakeManifolds on 66/67 Chevelles
I saw the same when I was picking out an intake for mine, so I went for
a Torker II. I had it on both my 402 (with a 750 Demon) and my 454 (850
Demon). Matched it up with a Torker Plus cam. Been very happy with the
combination.
I'm not sure of the dimensions on the RPM and Air gap, but
I'm running a 1" spacer which probably puts it fairly close to the height
on the others.
I just read on Summit that the Performer RPM and
the Air Gap will not fit with a stock hood on a 66 or 67 Chevelle. Anybody out
there using this intake with a BBS in a 66 or 67 that can shed some light on
this? Is it flat out impossible, or are there ways to make it
happen?
Thanks,
Larry
