[Chevelle-list] oil pan

hey Guys, I need some more advise :o) I had gotten a 7 quart oil pan when I had my 454 redone, but it wont fit into my 72 chevelle. so I picked up a Miloden pan from Jeg's and today I tried to put a "Miloden" stock replacement and a stock BBC pick-up . through my  inexperience I tried the pan and it didnt fit flush up to the bottom of the block .I think  it was resting against the oil pick-up. I was able to make all the pan bolts starting in the middle and working my way out to the edges , everything seems snug? question is how far should the oil pick-up bee from the bottom of the pan ? (it probaly shouldnt be against it like I suspect). I would  love to hear what you guys think ! do I have the wrong pick-up, sump or pan . thanks again ! Jimmy.C
