Jim,

I like to put new bushings in the new rearend (if they are not there
already) as I have never been able to take bushings out of a rearend without
hurting them.

Removal is quite easy,I use to remove the items like this:
parking brake cables,
Brake hose
Lower shock mounts
Drivveshaft off (put a plug or a spare yoke in the trans so it wont leak)
I like to loosen the a-arm bolts before rising the car
Raise the car under the pumpkin and put it on jackstands (at the frame)
Lower the jack a bit and take the a-arm bolts out and watch the rearend fall
to the floor (I did it laying underneath and that’s NOT reccomended :O)
Take the a-arm and springs off and move them over to the new rearend.
And start reading backwards from here

Take it easy because its heavy

Have Fun
André

Subject: [Chevelle-list] rear-end swap: the time has come

OK friends,

This mid-30s old man is doing his first rear-end
removal and replacement.. Any do's don'ts that anyone
would like to share BEFORE I get this thing out?

Nothing like being excited and scared $hitless at the
same time.

Regards,

Jim
