As one guy said a Good work bench vice and 2 old sockets one that fits the Inside diamater and one who's inside dial id is larger the the OD. of the drive-shaft yoke bearing cap.

IMO the hardest part is getting the little internal C clip off .
Once the C clips are off ( save then you'll need them )
You use you vice like a press Pushing the bearing cap in on one side with the little socket and having the other bearing cap go inside cap go inside the bigger socket.. You now turn it around and push with the little socket on the exposed cap less joint and push the remaing cap out.

Clean aera well, Helps in the insatll of the caps and the DAM C ring @[EMAIL PROTECTED]@$ Make sure you zerk fitting is facing the way the old on was. I like to add some extra grease to help hold the needle bearing inside the little caps. push on cap in partially install joint in bearing cap and push in in all the way with your vice or Big C clamp. I now take a peice of wire maker a loop and secure the joint in place of have third hand to make sure it dose no pop out. install the other cap in carfully push it in making sure it's straight the joint goes inside the bearing cup..

Then put on workbench/floor tap the cap one at a time in past the internal clip groove then in install then darn C clips both side, make sure the joint swivels freely and Bingo .. you Done..

This is a vary doable project for most anybody..

Subject: [Chevelle-list] u-joint replacement: do it yourself or shop?

While I'm pulling out my original rear, I thought new
U-joints would probably be a good move as well. Is
this something I could do on my own with the right
variety of tools? Or, is this one of those jobs best
left to the "experts".

My neighbor and I got the drums off tonight, and
disconnected the E-brake cables.. We're looking to
drop the old 3.08 open out tomorrow night. Can't
wait!!

Jim
