A friend of mine found a Tri-Power Olds Intake Casting #393238 with
carbs in the trunk of an old car. This appears to be for a 1966 442.
It's in pretty rough shape. Trying to find out how rare it is and what
it's worth. Can anyone put me in the right direction?

are owned by people on the list . What do most people have , by year.

I haven't looked yet but that may be Terry Gunter's old Z which he sold last
year. The story I heard is there was a car and cash traded for a value of
around $350 K. I lost my chance on one sometime back. I was told after bidding
(insider) that the reserve was 175 K and I stopped @ $125 K ( I was willing to
go $150 K). It then sold for $147 K and currently I have been told is for
sale @ $175 K. Right now there are about 65 documented Z16's & I know of
several parts cars that may be restored. Just a short time ago on Ebay one did
not
sell and high bid was $39744.00.Cars that 5 years ago I wouldn't of gave $10
K for are now selling for $25-30 K.By the time you fully restore one of
these cars it would be easy to put $150-175 K or more into it. I have several
buddies either restoring a Z or cloning one and I can tell you they will do
anything to get a part.

I say glad to see you go!!!!!
I don't want to whine, but this year has been a bitch for me.
Started off pretty good except for the 3 acre wooded lot next to mine being
sold. We liked the empty lot, thick with trees and wildlife, because it insured
our privacy.
But then, I lost my job the first week in Feb, to the bosses' son. Daddy's boy
needed a job after taking 3 1/2 years to get a 2 year degree AND after taking
over half of my sales territory 2 years before, decided he wanted more
territory/money. That was tough to take!! I had just purchased a new Chevy
Colorado for work; didn't need another vehicle, but company guidelines required
me to upgrade.
The people that bought the lot next door put a bulldozer on it and proceeded to
knock down all the trees; yes, all of them. Pushed them into a huge pile for my
slightly depressed wife to view from her kitchen window.
The upstairs heater went out and had to be shut down. The downstairs unit was
working double duty but with the wood burning stove, did just fine.
With out insurance, I broke a bone in my right hand; and of course I'm right
handed.
The new house being built next door called for a full basement. We live in
Southwest Virginia; lots of rocks so we had to listen to a large jack hammer
work it's way through boulders from 7A.M. till around 4 ish for a little more
than 3 weeks!!! That took a toll on my poor wife and me too.
I landed a job in April to start on the 1st of May; better job all around.[This
is a good thing] More money, better benefits and I get to compete with the old
company!!
The people next door lit a fire first thing in the morning to burn off the trees
they destroyed. We woke up to find our house full of thick white smoke from the
drift. My wife was ready to commit murder!! It took months to get the stink out
of the house.
The downstairs air conditioner died and had to be replaced along with the
upstairs unit. That was a 5 week wait in a very humid June.
I took a corner too tight in the house while barefooted and running to answer
the phone; broke my little toe on the left foot. Before you laugh, let me tell
you that that baby toe was sticking out about 30 degrees; bad break!!!! It's
amazing how much pain those little bones can create.
No silt fence needed, or rather required by law, in back of the new neighbor's
property. Every time we got a good rain, more of their soil, from the barren
dirt farm next door, slid onto my property. The tractor was out of commission,
water pump went out and was a major PITA to replace, so all I could do was watch
and hope we don't get too much more. {Ever seen a one legged man try to push a
lawnmower out of the mud?} My wife started drinking at that point.
Broke the same bone [in right hand] while trying to cut corners by pushing on
something I shouldn't have.
Bottom line, I didn't do a damn thing to my Chevelle this year; nothing!!
But for now, everything seems to have settled down. Next year will be better,
I'm sure.
Guys and gals, have a safe and wonderful New Year's holiday.
