I know there is some history, but if you would have seen the ones bidding,
one or two seemed three sheets to the wind and were having a big time trying
to outbid others. I say alcohol and ego got the price. Whatever was the real
cause, to me it was too much for the car....as you'll say...well some body
thought it was!(GRIN) 

I was surprised to hear the car was so dominate it was even beating
hemi's...surprise to me!

If you followed NHRA Super Stock back in those days,that Truppi/Kling
Chevelle,driven by Ray Allen, dominated like no other. To give an equivalent
example,imagine what one of Sox & Martin's race cars,or one of Bill "Grumpy"
Jenkins car's would be worth with their dominant racing history. It's the
history behind that Chevelle that pumped up the bidding.
