Scott,
Have you registered your 69 in the registry on Team Chevelle. You
may have one of the "newest" 69 Chevelles (highest production numbers) ,at least
from you production plant, out there

Joe,
My 1969 Chevelle SS 396 had no Rally
Stripes, or pin striping of any kind. It was produced very late in 1969 (3rd
week in August 1969), my understanding is that the 1970 production began the
following week or shortly there after. In fact the Protect-O-Plate
transmission code was mis-stamped as a 1970 code. I am also fortunate enough
to have all of the original documentation for the car including the Pre
Delivery Inspection Sheet and it is a 1970 PDI Sheet (Obviously the dealer
either ran out of 1969 PDI Sheets or they accidentally used the 1970
Sheet).
I've heard conflicting information about
stripes/pinstipes too. My SS is optionless for the most part, aside from the
Pushbutton AM radio. When my Grandfather purchased it new in '69, he didn't
even spring for power steering, much less bucket seats or a posi traction rear
end so I guess Stripes were the furthest thing from his mind. Don't get me
wrong, I'm not complaining by any stretch of the imagination. I consider
myself very fortunate to have this awesome car!
